Report of Village Hospital Utilization in the 8th Busan FESPIC Games

Abstract
|
|
|
Objective: To analyze the pattern of patients who visited village hospital during the 8th Busan FESPIC Games to provide basic data and useful information for the development of comprehensive and systematic rehabilitation care.
Method: We analysed the status of medical care utilization by nation, department of medicine, disease nature, and etc.
Results: The total number of patients was 781; athletes 495(63.4%) and staffs 286(36.6%). The frequent nationalities of patients visiting village hospital were Korea (189, 38.1%), Sri Ranka (46, 9.2%), India (30, 6.0%), Thailand (29, 5.8%) and Malaysia (29, 5.8%). The frequencies of athletes visiting village hospital were 1.60 in Mongolia, 1.50 in Bhutan, 1.15 in Sri Ranka, 1.00 in Samoa and 0.94 in Kazakhstan. The departments which the athletes frequently visited were Ophthalmology (223, 45.0%), Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (87, 17.6%), Emergency Medicine (58, 11.7%), Internal Medicine (45, 9.0%), Otorhinolaryngology (35, 7.0%). The common causes of athletes visiting were myofascial pain syndrome (11.7%) and upper respiratory tract infection (9.4%).
Conclusion: We present basic data for village hospital utilization. We expect that these data would be useful information for development of comprehensive and systemic rehabilitation care.
